The Look For Less: Warm Metals
Interiors have begun to move away from the industrialized ‘cool’ metals such as chrome, stainless steel and brushed metal. While these finishes still have their place, what we are seeing now is a lean towards ‘warm’ metals such as copper, bronze, brass, gold and rose gold. These metals suggest elegance and luxury and can be used as entire furniture pieces or as small accents. In a variety of finishes, from brushed, matte or shiny, warm metals are one of our favorite trends we are excited to see continue in 2017!
1. Copper
The Look: Tom Dixon – Melt Pendant - $1,100
These polished copper, distorted spherical pendants would look amazing in any room! For a recent project we used a grouping of these pendants over the dining table to center the space and add interest.
For Less: Blu Dot – Trace 4 Pendant Light - $299; Jono Mirrors – Allen Pendant - $279
Mimic the spherical design with the Jono Mirrors Pendant or mix materials with the glass & copper Blu Dot option!
2. Brass
The Look: En Pointe – Small Brass Console Table - $1,595
This simple, elegant console is handmade in Normandy, France of brass material. The tapered legs are a cool design detail.
For Less: CB2 - Nolita Mini Console Table - $299; Mercer41 – Sternberg Matrix Console Table - $389.99
The CB2 console features a brass top and a matte black frame. This is a good way to include the trend without committing to and entirely brass piece. We love the geometric pattern of the Mercer41 piece!
3. Rose Gold
The Look: Kate Spade – Malmo Rose Gold Five Piece Place Setting - $90
Why not extend the trend to your flatware! No item is too small to add a special finish! We like the sleek design of this flatware set by Kate Spade.
For Less: Crate & Barrel – Harper Rose Gold Five Piece Flatware Place Setting - $59.95; Lulu & Georgia – Rose Gold Salad Servers - $51
Glam up your next table setting and impress your guests! As an alternative set, go for a shiny finish like the Crate & Barrel, or mix materials (brass, rose gold & glass to be exact) with the Lulu & Georgia set.
4. Gold
The Look: Maya Romanoff – Bedazzled Leaf; Coco Butter Leaf - Priced upon request
You can include the warm metal trend in your walls! This metal leaf wallcovering by Maya Romanoff is stunning. Handcrafted by artisans using strokes of gold leaf and glass beads, it is truly a show-stopper!
For Less: Hygge & West – Trees - $140 (per roll); Walnut Wallpaper - Columbia Road - $436 (per roll)
The hand screen printed wallpaper by Hygge & West is a luxe print option. We like the dramatic contrast of gold background with black trees and the gold on white of the Walnut Wallpaper option.
5. Bronze
The Look: Global Views – Squeeze Side Table - $1,199
This piece also incorporates brass and its ombre bronze finish is eye-catching. The playful stacking of geometric shapes make it truly unique!
For Less: Lulu & Georgia – Osane Accent Table - $218; One Kings Lane – Mavis Side Table - $279
Both options offer interesting designs. The Lulu & Georgia table has a modern, geometric, bronze base and black top, while the One Kings Lane table is an all bronze finish in a more traditional style.
Designer pieces are always ideal, but with so many great affordable alternatives it is easy to get the look for less!
