To-Kalon Yacht
Ft Myers, Florida

To-Kalon, a 33 meter yacht we had the immense opportunity to refit in Fort Lauderdale in 2025. The name comes from the Greek for “the beautiful” and is shared with one of Napa Valley’s most storied vineyards, a fitting reference for an owner with a deep love of wine country. The refit carries that idea through the yacht with custom furniture, one of a kind soft goods, and a commissioned mural, all designed to give guests an experience they could not find anywhere else.

The scope covered the owner’s cabin, all four guest cabins, the day head, the main salon, and the aft deck.

Aft deck. Every piece of furniture on the aft deck was redesigned and rebuilt. The new pieces were engineered to use the existing deck mounts, so the design could change completely without any alteration to the yacht’s structure. Deep lounge seating in a textured performance fabric is paired with lounge chairs on lacquered slatted frames and a pedestal table with a striped wood inlay top that nods to classic yacht decking. Cushions in mustard, navy, and soft blue, some finished with gold cord trim, pick up the colors of the water and sky.

Main salon. A custom rug was designed and made to fit the salon’s exact footprint, working around the built in furniture and the yacht’s lines rather than settling for a standard size. It grounds the room and carries the palette of the aft deck and cabins inside, so the interior reads as one cohesive design throughout.

Cabins. The owner did not want bedding she could buy off the shelf, so the studio developed custom bedding for every cabin, sourcing from many vendors so no two combinations are alike. Velvets, crisp white linens with graphic embroidered tape, and textured bolsters in rust and cream are layered against the existing warm wood paneling. Each bed has both a day and a night setup, so cabins feel tailored whether guests are resting between swims or turning in for the evening.

Day head. Designs by Human brought in Calidus Guild, a New York based artisan studio, to paint a custom mural on site that evokes the owner’s love of wine country. Custom towels throughout the yacht complete the experience.

Scope: Yacht interior and exterior refit, custom aft deck furniture design, custom main salon rug, owner’s and guest cabin soft goods, custom bedding with day and night configurations, custom towels, commissioned mural, textile and finish selection

Questions and Answers

Can yacht deck furniture be replaced without structural changes?
Yes. On To-Kalon, all new aft deck furniture was designed around the existing mounts, so the yacht’s structure did not need to be modified. This keeps a refit faster, less invasive, and easier to schedule around the cruising season.

Why use a custom rug on a yacht?
Yacht salons rarely fit standard rug sizes, and built in furniture, curved walls, and floor hatches all need to be accounted for. A custom rug is made to the exact shape of the space, with the right construction and backing to stay in place and handle life on the water.

What is a day and night bedding setup on a yacht?
It is a bedding program designed in two configurations. The day setup is tailored and decorative for when cabins are shown or used for lounging, and the night setup is layered for comfort and sleep, giving guests a hotel level experience on board.

Can you commission custom artwork for a yacht interior?
Yes. Murals and decorative painting can be executed on board by specialist artisans, using finishes suited to the marine environment. They are one of the most personal ways to make a yacht feel unique to its owner.
